Brilliant Chelsea youngster’s transfer implicated in FIFA investigation

Chelsea’s transfer ban is old news now. In fact, we’ve already served half of it, and in a couple of months we’ll be back on a level playing field with everyone else.

The investigation is still ongoing however, and the Sun today have quotes from FIFA’s full findings, which were released today. Chelsea are waiting for a date for their appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport to be set, but until then there’s plenty of juicy gossip in this report to go round.

For most Blues fans, the most interesting snippet is that Billy Gilmour’s £550,000 move from Rangers is one of those that broke the rules and incurred the punishment.

The Sun say that while his actual transfer was OK, the agreement that the two clubs signed months before, which gave Chelsea a first option on the youngster and the chance to get him in to train, was not.

A similar accusation was made over the deal that brought Juan Castillo from Ajax.

Gilmour made his second senior start last night, and look better than ever. To be honest, he might well end up being worth a window’s ban on his own, if he ends up being as good as we hope he does.
