Tammy Abraham notched another goal for Chelsea at the weekend, running in behind the Southampton defence and levering a ball over the onrushing Angus Gunn into the back of the net (well not quite, but over the line) to give his team the lead.
The forward now has 8 goals in the Premier League, putting him joint top of the top scorers table with Sergio Aguero, who drew a blank as Man City were stunned by Wolves at home.
It’s not just in the English top flight that Tammy is putting up a fight. Across all of Europe, only Robert Lewandowski has more goals than our number 9. The slow starts to the season for Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo mean that the European Golden Boot is up for grabs this season, and while Tammy has a long way to go to catch and overtake the world class Lewandowski, he’s got a great chance of pushing him deep into the season.
Not bad for the “Championship striker” that so many Chelsea fans were worried about leading the line for their club, eh?
