It’s only half time in the Chelsea Newcastle game, but Callum Hudson-Odoi has already put himself in a clear favourite’s position to win the Man of the Match award.
The winger was started by Frank Lampard following two goals and an assist in midweek for England U21, and he’s carried on right where he left off for his country.
He hasn’t found the net yet, but he’s been Chelsea’s most consistent threat for the entire half. He’s played long raking crossfield passes; beating men at close range, and playing the most dangerous crosses of the game.
Mason Mount and Willian had golden opportunities from his balls into the box, and if he keeps playing like this we’re sure to take the lead. At times this team has lacked little bit of temp and imagination in breaking down the deep sitting Newcastle.
In a way that is very reminiscent of Eden Hazard in recent seasons, we’ve really turned to CHO whenever we’re looking out of ideas. So far, he’s delivered.
