Chelsea player broke Diego Costa’s nose when he was at school

Fikayo Tomori has been a major player for Chelsea this season taking a place of his own in the team in the period since the last international break.

In quotes featured in The Telegraph, he reflected about his rise to the top, including a rather shocking Diego Costa anecdote.

A young Fik, called up to train with the first team after the fall of the Mourinho second regime, went up for a header with Costa and ended up breaking his nose. The best part was? Tomori was still at school at the time.

Costa ended up having to play in a mask, but as you’ll remember he managed to score against Newcastle that weekend. It didn’t slow him down, and a year later we were surging to the title under Antonio Conte.

When he was going up against players that good as an 18 year old, it’s no surprise he’s developed into the class player he is now. Those kind of clashes on the training field can be the making of a young player, and we’ve got to thank Guus once again for giving him his first break – no pun intended.
