“Everyone wants an Eden Hazard in the team” – Frank explains how he’s worked around loss of Belgian

Frank Lampard -and indeed this website – have made a point of not going on about Eden Hazard too much this season.

The Belgian scored or assisted half of our goals last season, and nobody was really sure how on Earth we were going to replace him.

We couldn’t sign any players, our star was leaving and all we had to replace him was some returning loan players from the Championship. It seemed an impossible task, but as Frank says in quotes carried by Goal.com, we’ve managed it through teamwork.

“I felt we have options and people have talked about transitions, and obviously there is when you lose a player as impactful as Eden, who scored or created nearly 50 per cent of our goals last year,” Lampard said.

“Everyone wants an Eden Hazard in the team, don’t get me wrong, but we haven’t and it was what was in front of me. We’ve got good players and it’s important we try and be an attacking force,” he went on.

He’s balanced it perfectly, finding goals and assists through the whole team. In fact, we’re arguably in a better position now, less dependent on one man and one style, than we’ve been in some time.

Who wants one Eden Hazard when you can have several?
