He may be playing in red right now, but Conor Gallagher has Blue blood.
The midfielder has exploded onto the scene this season on loan at Charlton with a flurry of goals in the Championship, but in an exclusive interview with London News Online, Gallagher revealed he and his family are Chelsea fans.
“We have always been Chelsea fans, which makes it even nicer,” he is quoted as saying.
“My dad can’t quite believe it. I’m not a proper Chelsea first-team player, but they are so proud of what I’m doing. I hope I can carry on and be successful,” the youngster continued.
Frank Lampard will be loving his progress, and the fact that he’s a proper family fan from birth and not just a player for us makes it even more special.
We hope he can carry on this great success on loan, and prove himself ready for a step up to Premier League action next season, with Chelsea or another competitive outfit.
He names Lampard as his idol in that same interview. We have no doubt he will get a chance to play for his hero before too long.
