This is a streak that even the most positive Chelsea supporters wouldn’t have predicted this early in Frank Lampard’s Blues managerial career.
Especially after the stuttering start to the season that they experienced, struggling to get the results and conceding far too many goals.
But the team has started to gel, players are putting in the performances, and Lampard has bought back that squad togetherness.
One man who is also still in disbelief at the way things are going this season, is defender Fiakyo Tomori. The Chelsea academy product would not have expected to be a regular starter at the club so soon, but he’s become one of the first names on the team sheet.
The 21-year old has been reflecting on the season so far, and has revealed exactly what has got them to this winning streak, as reported by the Chelsea website.
He said:
“We were on a streak of winning five games when we played at Ajax in the Champions League and that was more a thinking game.
“The Champions League is obviously a difficult competition and then to come away to a place like Burnley is difficult and sometimes you can slip up, but we just wanted to stay focused and we know the threats they posed. I think we dealt with them well.
“The key to our form is the hard work on the training pitch.
“Everyone is really focused and we try to work hard every day and implement what the manager is trying to make us do every week.
“It is a lot of hard work, focus, determination and that will to win, and we have a good mix of experience and young players who are gelling together a bit more now.
“We just want to keep playing well, we want to keep on winning games and winning is a habit.
“Further on in the season, who knows where we can end up but we are just focused on every single game as it comes. We focused on Ajax and won that, we were focused on this one at Burnley and now we are focused on Man United in the Carabao Cup.”
