Manchester United ended Chelsea’s 7 game winning streak last night winning 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Solskjaer’s team setup a defensive unit looking to nick something, and it paid off with two set pieces.
Chelsea can feel hard done by, but the fact is they were poor all over the park last night and had no solution to United’s defensive man marking system.
The Blues only managed 2 shots on target all match, with one of those being an excellent goal from Michy Batshuayi.
No team really lit it up and for the neutral football fan, they’d have been better watching Arsenal and Liverpool’s ten goal thriller!
It was one of those frustrating games for Chelsea and they looked like half the measure of the team that had been storming through these last 7 matches.
Frank Lampard gave starts to a few of the younger and fringe players, who were no better or worse than the regulars.
But Lampard feels his side deserved more, as reported by The BBC.
He said:
“There weren’t many chances in the first half. In the second half we showed the energy I wanted. We created chances and dominated the game.
“They got a bolt out of the blue to win the game. It’s an amazing goal, you can’t do anything about that. We felt like we were going on to win the game at that stage.
“[The winning run ending was] always going to happen. You can’t go on forever. Even [Manchester] City and Liverpool lose at some point. We changed the team a lot today, made a lot of changes. I thought we were the better team in general play.”
