Jorginho “will return to Italy” says agent as weird exit hints continue

It was only on Monday that we reported on quotes from Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos, who insisted that his client was happy at the club but also couldn’t help but hint at a return to Italy in the long term.

We were happy to excuse it – that’s what agents do after all. But the fact it’s now been followed up with more, separate comments in a similar vein is rather strange.

Football.London have the quotes from Joao Santos, who doubled down on his comments to the press about Jorginho potentially wanting a return to the country where he made his name.

“He arrived in Italy at fifteen, plays in England but his heart is Italian,” he is quoted as saying by the website.

“At Chelsea he’s doing very well, he’s an important player for the team, a second captain.”

“When a team gives this great confidence to a player, it’s because they plan the future together with him.”

He even went with the strongest statement of all to conclude:

“Not immediately, but he will return to Italy in the future.”

Not much room for interpretation there then. Of course he’s just angling for a new contract, but does he really need to angle so hard? He’s in the first team, Frank likes him. The club are going to give him a new deal – unless, perhaps, he keeps causing trouble like this.
