Frank Lampard had his press conference last night after the loss to Manchester United, and he managed to find some positives despite the defeat.
He took great joy in how well Marc Guehi and Billy Gilmour, the two true youth players in the starting team, got on, and rightly so.
It wasn’t an easy game for them, but they showed real presence and coolness under pressure. Guehi only conceded because of a penalty and a free kick, Man U barely threatened from open play.
Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com had the quotes from Frank, as well as some stats on Guehi’s performance
Lampard on Guehi after tonight: "I thought Guehi and Billy were really good. I thought Marc Guehi showed massive a positive of the evening. He showed that he can handle this level comfortably today." #CFC #CHEMUN #CarabaoCup https://t.co/VeVI6ziiPB

Big night for Marc Guehi though. 91.7% pass completion in 96 passes was a high for either team. He also won all of his four duels. #CFC #CHEMUN #MUFC #CarabaoCup

Both of them started the game against Grimsby in the round before this, and will hope for a couple more games this season, in the FA Cup or maybe 15 minutes at the end of a Champions League dead rubber.
Whatever the case may be, Lampard has shown great willingness to use them, and is now impressed by how they’ve done. You can only call that great progress for them.
