Leicester to hand new star £25m deal to keep Chelsea away

Leicester are keen to offer Ben Chilwell a massive new contract to secure him in the face of serious interest from Chelsea, according to the Metro.

The left back has developed into an excellent player over the last couple of seasons, and as a top young English talent has been linked with the Blues, among others.

The tabloid say the Foxes want to keep hold of him, and will offer him a huge pay rise to commit to further years at the club. The Leicester Mercury says that it will be a £25m offer over five years, enough to keep anyone off his back for a while.

We would presumably have to better those wages if we wanted to sign him, plus of course the £50m+ it would take to actually sign him.

We’ve got deep pockets after a window out of action in the transfer market – but are they this deep?

We will soon find out.
