Sky Sports have a new interview with Mason Mount up on their website this morning, where the young midfielder explains exactly what it’s like being the wonderkid coming through at a club where a lot is expected of you.
It sounds pretty fun to be honest. Mason now trains and plays with the senior squad, while still looking back over at the other pitches where he was tearing it up with the youth team not long ago.
Not only that, but he has one of his heroes as his manager. And clearly that has an effect on his game, as the 21 year old explains:
“You want to give that extra mile for him,” Mount said of the midfielder turned manager.
That’s not surprising. Lampard was always a player who gave the extra mile himself, so he’s more than entitled to demand it from his players too. And Mount, full of hard work and enthusiasm, doesn’t look like he will be hesitating to give it to him.
