Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has had a fun couple of years. Since making his bow as a pundit on the satellite TV sports station, he’s since his former club get better and better, while their rivals have got worse.
The game between Arsenal and Man United last night was a prime example. Two poor teams slugged it out at Old Trafford in what ended up being a scrappy 1-1 draw. Neither team showed much quality at all, and as Carra pointed out in the post match analysis, any Chelsea fans watching on will have been absolutely delighted.
The Daily Mail carried the quotes from the former defender, who was pretty put off by what was on show: “The one team looking at that tonight who will be encouraged is Chelsea,” Carra asserted.
“At the start of the season, I thought Chelsea might struggle to get into the top-four.
“It will still be a fight but even in these early stages, they have more quality than what we have seen from these two teams.”
Talk about damning with faint praise. The top Red clearly thinks we’re flawed too, but our flaws are more disguised by the wave of exciting youth in our team.
Man U and Arsenal on the the other hand… they’re a great reminder of how bad things could get.
