Rob Green reveals which Chelsea defender could not deal with Hudson-Odoi in training

Rob Green retired from football this summer after a cameo stint with Chelsea. The former England goalkeeper had a decorated career on the pitch and since leaving the game, has already given some decorated interviews!

Green has been the man on the inside at Chelsea and has been revealing a few bits of inside facts from training and inside the dressing room.

It’s been interesting to hear it from a players perspective, although there is one man who will not be overly thankful for Green’s latest words, and that’s club captain Cesar Azpilcueta.

Green has been highly praising Callum Hudson-Odoi to Football Daily, as reported by The Daily Star.

He describes Hudson-Odoi dealing with the pressure of the Bayern Munich pursuit as ‘water off a ducks back’ and reveals just how explosive and confident Hudson-Odoi was in training. So much so that Azpilicueta ‘couldn’t live with him in training’.

Green said:

“We’d hear chat about Bayern Munich and other clubs. Callum would just be there smiling.

“He knew it was all going on but it was water off a duck’s back to him. The pressure didn’t exist for him – and still doesn’t.

“We’d go into training and Callum would tear it up day in, day out. In games, he would try things he hadn’t done in training because he wanted to.

“He can play with that freedom and try it against some of the best players in the world. The confidence he had in the dressing room at such a young age was incredible to watch.

“Cesar Azpilicuatea couldn’t live with him in training.

“There’s no reason why he can’t do at Chelsea what Eden Hazard did in the last seven or eight years.”
