Chelsea winger Willian is into the last year of his contract, meaning that from January 1st he will be able to negotiate with clubs outside England to prepare a precontract for next summer.
Chief among those clubs linked with the Brazilian are Juventus, now managed by Maurizio Sarri, who was boss at Stamford Bridge for one year before departing to join the Old Lady in the summer.
The Daily Mail lead the charge in insisting that Chelsea’s loyal servant is now wanted in Turin, and the evidence from last season seems to hint that there could be some truth in it.
Let’s not forget that Willian played a staggering 56 times last season for Maurizi Sarri, picking up 8 goals and 14 assists.
That’s about a goal contribution every other game, which is good, but the sheer number of appearances he picked up, despite the presence of Eden Hazard, Pedro and Callum Hudson-Odoi in the team, that shows you just how much Sarri rates the 30 year old.
