The two things Callum Hudson-Odoi aims to get the football pitch

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been speaking to the media about his desires to improve as a player.

He identified how he can get better, and also the things he looks at when trying to quantify how he can improve. Despite the praise he’s had for a thrilling breakout 12 months, praise which has only heightened this week after he netted a fantastic brace for the England U21s, he knows he can get better.

“I say to myself, keep going, keep working hard and hopefully more opportunities will come. I am delighted to get the goals. It is goals that I always try to get as well as assists – any contributions to the team,” the attacker said in quotes carried by Goal.com.

“Hopefully many more like that will come and I will get opportunities to score. I will hopefully go back to Saturday with Chelsea and get another three points.”

It’s pretty logical that those would be the things he cares about. While he can still contribute to the team in defence, in possession play and in pressing high up the pitch, his main role is to make those decisive contributions in the final third.

Either playing the ball to teammates in positions to shoot or taking a shot on himself, the winger’s effectiveness can really be measured pretty cleanly with those goals and assists. No wonder he’s keen to keep them ticking up.
