Mateo Kovacic was subbed off for Croatia in their last Euro Qualifier on Sunday, and Chelsea fans have been waiting with baited breath to find out more about the injury that forced him off.
Because he’s been with the national team, it’s been harder for journos to get any new info about what problem he picked up until today, seemingly.
Ian Mitchelmore who was at the press conference with Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic reported the following quotes:
Zlatko Dalic on Kovacic injury before Bale goal: "I can't comment on that at this moment. The fact is that Mateo (Kovacic) was injured and had to leave the game. But we need to be more focused. We are not very happy with this result." #CROWAL

And that was pretty much all we got until today, when more details emerged:
Potential positive news in regards to the fitness of Mateo Kovačič…
(Croatia manager Zlatko Dalić) “He seems to be fine. He felt his knee in that challenge so we'll see in the next few days what the diagnosis is."#CFC pic.twitter.com/mwAj1xmA7T

We can’t find a good source for those quotes, which, as we say is the trouble with these international break news stories. But it’s been reported by enough people that we believe it’s true.
Even a pretty minor knock makes him a doubt for this weekend, and we’re unlikely to know more until Frank Lampard’s press conference on Friday.
