Frank Lampard has made a point of being very cautious in the majority of his interviews since becoming Chelsea boss, not making too much of a big deal when his team or individuals do well, always taking pains to point out the areas of improvement that his guys can make.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game today however, he couldn’t help but gush. Aside from a late slip that allowed the home team to score a couple, Lamps had little he could find to critique. His team tore Burnley apart at times, and then did a very professional job of controlling the game – before a stunner from Jay Rodriguez and a deflected strike gave the scoreline some respectability.
Guarding against complacency is all well and good, but sometimes you just have to give praise. This was one of those times for Frank, and it’s hard to disagree.
