Callum Hudson-Odoi has been taking the breath away from Chelsea fans for a couple of years now, and it’s good to hear he can still stun those he’s played with for years.
Marc Guehi has effectively grown up with Callum, playing in the same youth teams since they were tiny kids.
But to this day, the wonder winger can still shock his old mate, as the defender revealed in this interview with Goal.com.
“I was speechless. That was an amazing goal,” 19 year old Guehi said of Hudson-Odoi’s second goal, scored against Austria on Tuesday night.
“It was a great counter-attack and he’s the type of player that can do stuff like that so I am really over the moon for him.”
We’re all aware of Callum’s exceptional dribbling, but this goal was a reminder to us – and maybe even to Marc – that the tricky 18 year old can hit them from anywhere, in this case bending one from outside the box just as the keeper was getting set.
It was the kind of move that we’re hoping to see a lot more of over the years. Now he’s sealed on his new deal, we want to see dozens, if not hundreds, of goals from the long-named assassin.
This weekend against Newcastle would be a great start.
