Chelsea could look to Porto left back as Ben Chilwell alternative

Leicester City will do anything in their powers to resist offers for Ben Chilwell, and the player himself will not agitate a move away, according to a report from The Evening Standard today.

So if Chelsea’s widely reported interest in the left back should avail, they have one hell of a fight on their hands to get him.

A cheaper and probably easier option for Chelsea would be Porto left back Alex Telles.

The 26-year old Brazilian has been on Chelsea’s radar for a little while now, as confirmed by many sources, including Portuguese publication Record, as cited by Sport Witness back in May.

Having less than two years left on his Porto contract, it is likely a fee for less than £40 million could be negotiated for his services.

His agent is also on record for previously saying that his client will play for Chelsea one day, as reported by The Birmingham Mail back in January 2018 when Chelsea’s interest first came to light.

Telles would be a great fit for Chelsea who could face losing Marcos Alonso in January, who could go in search of first team football.

Emerson will need decent competition at left back, and Telles would be perfect to do just that.
