Frank Lampard has been speaking ahead of the Champions League match with Ajax tomorrow night, with one player in particular on his radar.
N’Golo Kante was spotted in the open training session at Cobham earlier today, leading to some questions from the attending journalists about where he would fit into the Chelsea midfield which is playing so well right now.
In quotes carried by London Football News, the Chelsea boss pointed out that it was a “good problem to have” and that he was intending to use the Frenchman in all manner of different ways, alongside the equally versatile Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.
“They all can do all roles as such. I’m very happy for them to be quite fluent in how they play,” Frank quoth.
“In some games we’ve had to break teams down this season and we need to be able to move. We can’t be too rigid in our positions or too predictable,” he explained.
He went on to mention the number of games we’re playing at the moment, with the Champions League in full flow now.
We will soon find out exactly what his plans are, but however they work, we’re pretty sure they involve Kante playing as a starter. We saw under Maurizio Sarri last year that the midfielder will do whatever you ask of him, extremely well.
