Conor Gallagher reveals promising Frank Lampard text suggesting youngster is in his plans

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is really doing bits this season on loan at Championship side Charlton Athletic.

Despite Lee Bowyer’s side dipping in form and struggling of late in the league, Gallagher has been putting in some fine performances in his box to box role and making a name for himself as a goal scoring creative type.

Gallagher has 9 goal involvements in all competitions in 22 appearances for Charlton so far this season, scoring 6 goals (Transfermarkt).

His form has gathered heaps of praise for the 19-year Chelsea academy star from pundits and Blues fans alike.

And naturally, none of this has gone unnoticed to his Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, who has personally taken the time to text Gallagher and inform him that he is pleased with his progress.

Gallagher, speaking to The Sun, has revealed one text in particular that Lampard recently sent him, and it looks like good news for the youngsters Chelsea future…

He said:

“He sent me a message saying how happy he is for me, that my work at Charlton isn’t going unnoticed and everyone is talking about me.”

Gallagher aims to emulate Lampard on the pitch, he continued:

“I’m a Chelsea fan and he was always their best player as I was growing up.

“He is the all-time top scorer, a box-to-box midfielder. That’s just how I want to be.

“When I was in the academy, the staff would give me videos of him playing, how he makes the box and gets on the ball and always scanning — that sort of stuff.

“The main skill of his that I wanted to master was how many goals he scored.

“That is why he was so successful because he scored so many from midfield. It’s something I want to have in my career.”
