Frank Lampard indicates Spurs players dived for penalties as he defends Rudiger reaction

The war of words between Frank Lampard and Jose Mourinho over Heung Min Son’s red card is starting to heat up.

There was always likely to be at least one point of contention after Chelsea’s win at Tottenham on Sunday, and its ended up being the red given to the South Korean attacker for kicking out at Rudiger in the second half.

Jose Mourinho has chosen this incident to zoom in on and distract from his side’s loss, implying in his post match press conference that the Chelsea player overreacted.

Lampard has now responded, defending his player and firing back by pointing out that Spurs players went down easily in the box.

As you can see in the quotes above from Simon Johnson, the gaffer isn’t letting Mourinho have it all his way – and rightly so.

It’s ridiculous to think that Rudiger’s reaction played that much of a role when VAR watched the incident back in slow motion and decided on that basis.

This is just classic Mourinho deflection – and to be fair it’s worked.
