Chelsea have some real talents on show this season and there are a few players that are really stepping up and making names for themselves.
Mateo Kovacic is one who has really shone this season so far and has become one of Frank Lampard’s most important players.
Another Lampard favourite is Mason Mount, who has been ever present in his starting eleven this season.
Lampard loves his work rate and his movement in the final third, giving defenders the absolute run around.
He started the season on fire and then went off the radar a little bit in between. But he was at his absolute best again against Tottenham on Sunday and helped his team win the match 2-0 in Spurs own back yard.
He made BBC pundit Garth Crooks team of the week, and Crooks rates him highly.
In his few paragraphs that he wrote about Mount in his piece on the BBC website, Crooks said:
“The more I see this kid, the more I like him. In fact, I think he’s going to be top class.
“Mason Mount’s performance against Spurs was the most mature game I have seen from the Chelsea youngster in a blue shirt.
“Quite apart from the fact that Mount has excellent technical ability he’s also not afraid to stick his foot in and battle when required.
“The latter feature that was very evident during the game against Tottenham.
“Frank Lampard has assembled an impressive young side who believe in him. Lampard’s apprenticeship is over. This man can manage.”
