Hudson-Odoi ‘seeking reassurance’ after social media abuse from own ‘fans’

I can’t quite believe that I am even writing this article about a 19-year old player returning from a very serious injury struggling to rediscover confidence, being abused by his supposed own supporters.

But here we are, talking about a hugely talented Callum Hudson-Odoi, generating online abuse due to his recent poor form.

Since coming back into the fold he has struggled to show the potential that he showed last season, there is no doubting that.

He struggled again yesterday against Southampton after Frank Lampard handed him his first start in a little while, but so did every Chelsea player.

In an article written by Chelsea insider for The Athletic Simon Johnson, a snippet appeared online revealing that Hudson-Odoi has been speaking to team mates about online abuse he has been receiving this season, in order to seek reassurances.

It really does beggars belief that anyone can think that abusing a 19-year old will have anything but a negative affect on his performances, thus having a negative affect on Chelsea’s results directly.

Great work Chelsea ‘fans’.
