As talks go on, Chelsea should really look to meet top goalscorer’s wage demands

Chelsea have set the bar high for any new contract talks for regular first team players when they agreed to pay 19-year old Callum Hudson-Odoi £150,000 a week that has the potential to rise to £180,000.

The fee, as stated by Goal, was presented to Hudson-Odoi in an attempt to keep him at the club with interest from Bayern Munich amongst other clubs mounting up.

Now, a new report from Goal has emerged stating that Chelsea are trying to convince his team mate Tammy Abraham to sign an improved contract extension at the club.

But the talks have stalled for now, with a stand off between Abraham’s representatives and the Chelsea board over the suggested terms.

Abraham apparently wants to be level pegging with the same terms as Hudson-Odoi, due to being an indispensable first team player this season and also the clubs top goalscorer.

To be honest the situation doesn’t surprise me, and Chelsea would be wise to agree to the terms and keep one of the season best performers at the club for the future.
