CONFIRMED: Champions League and Europa League suspended

The Champions League and Europa League have been suspended by UEFA in the wake of the coronavirus sweeping across Europe.

It’s a move that has looked inevitable after players in the competition, including Daniele Rugani of Juventus and our own Callum Hudson-Odoi, have been confirmed to be infected.

For now it is just this week’s round of matches,   but there’s clearly the very big change no more football is played at all this season.

Chelsea are 3-0 down to Bayern after the first leg of their two-legged tie, and on the verge of going out. But events are moving so rapidly that since the first leg it’s looked less and less likely that we would see the second leg played at all.

Now that has been confirmed, and we can all start to wonder about whether this Premier League season will ever be completed either. This all gets more worrying by the day.
