Barcelona player is Arteta’s dream, Chelsea fall behind in transfer chase

Chelsea have been linked heavily with Philippe Coutinho in the last few weeks, not something that has been universally popular with fans.

You’d think that being linked with a player Barcelona spent big money on, who had a history tearing up the Premier League, would keep fans happy. But the tepid couple of years the Brazilian has had has dampened excitement massively.

SportWitness‘ report today, with translated quotes from Mundo Deportivo, will please those Blues who don’t want the former Red at Stamford Bridge.

They write that Arsenal are now closing in, and that Coutinho is Mikel Arteta’s “dream” to sign.

Ultimately, it will come down to who gives Barca the better deal. They will be desperate to shift the 27 year old permanently, and if any team gives them a reasonable deal on those grounds, they’re likely to take it.

If, however, as we suspect, it’s only loan offers forthcoming for Coutinho, it may come down to his own personal preference about where he thinks he can succeed.
