Callum Hudson-Odoi bailed by police but faces further questioning next month

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been released on bail, according to the Evening Standard this morning.

The Chelsea winger was arrested on Sunday morning at around 4am after the police and the ambulance services were called.

A woman at the 19 year old’s home in west London was “unwell” and taken to hospital, while he was arrested by police.

It’s now been made clear that Hudson-Odoi was bailed after questioning, and is expected to return in “mid-June.”

“Enquiries continue,” the police report ominously adds.

It sounds like this is going to drag on for some time, even in the best case scenario, and we just have to hope for everyone’s sake that nothing too terrible has happened. It doesn’t sound great though, and one injury troubled year on from signing his monster contract, nobody could argue it’s been an ideal 12 months for the teenager.

But now fully recovered from the coronavirus and from his niggling injuries, hopefully this blows over and he is able to return to doing his bit on the pitch before the summer is over.

No matter how major or minor this story ends up being, it’s going to be all over the press for a while now, and may follow him for the rest of his career.

“Dortmund are in decent form,” who said this, forgetting that the German side haven’t played in two months? Find out in the top sports newsletter here.
