Chelsea make contact with German international, Liverpool ‘not likely’ to join race

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is looking at a number of new striker options to bring in this summer as he looks to improve his front line.

One player who they have continued to be linked with signing is RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner. However, it had looked like he was destined to join Liverpool this summer instead.

But it is Chelsea who have made contact with the German international’s agent over a potential summer move as well as Manchester United, according to BILD writer Christian Falk.

He points out that Liverpool have not yet made their offer though, and that is what Werner is waiting for.

But further to that, English journalist Kevin Palmer says that it is ‘not likely’ that Liverpool will be doing any big money deals this summer and will only pursue Werner if they sell one of their current front three.

According to this, the race is between Chelsea and Manchester United.
