Chelsea ready to play their “ace” Jorginho in transfer battle for Juventus star

Chelsea are interested in Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic, and they have an advantage over the other teams in Europe when it comes to signing him.

Juventus seem to have decided that the midfielder is now surplus to requirements in Turin, and they are willing to listen to offers for him.

The Blues are among a number of teams who are interested, according to translated reports from Italy featured today on SportWitness. PSG and Barcelona are the other, ominously large, names hovering over the former Lyon player.

But according to that same report, Chelsea have something to offer that those other sides don’t – Jorginho.

He’s our “ace in the hole” according to those Italian sources, because Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri is such a big fan. Having brought him to Chelsea two summers ago, Sarri is now keen to take him to Turin, and Pjanic could be thrown in as a makeweight in the other direction.

PSG have players of their own to offer, and Barcelona have half their squad up for grabs as desperately try to shed some flab from their squad.

But none of them have Jorginho, the coveted key to Sarri’s system, and that might just prove decisive for Chelsea.

“Dortmund are in decent form,” who said this, forgetting that the German side haven’t played in two months? Find out in the top sports newsletter here.
