Chelsea have been heavily linked with signing one player in particular since the start of the lock down.
There were even reports that the player was close to joining Chelsea.
As cited by TalkSport, Barcelona attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho was being reported to be close to joining Frank Lampard’s side back in April.
Sky Sports followed that report up not long after saying that the former Liverpool player had been offered to Chelsea.
Whilst these reports have largely died off, there are still whispers surrounding this potential deal.
Today, The Mirror are reporting that Barcelona will slash the valuation of Coutinho to around half of the £142 million that they paid Liverpool for him a couple of seasons back, bringing his new valuation close to £70 million.
They claim that it is Arsenal leading the race to sign Coutinho though, and there is no mention of Chelsea.
But as transfer season approaches, I am sure that isn’t the end of this story.
