“He looks a really good, technical footballer” – Scotland international loves ‘outstanding’ Billy Gilmour

Chelsea have an absolute gem of a player in their ranks who has burst onto the scene this season.

Billy Gilmour was on fire before the season came to an abrupt stop, he had played the last few games for Frank Lampard and was really on his way to nailing down a regular spot in the Chelsea midfield at just 18-years old.

He has become a heavily talked about footballer across the world and he absolutely deserves all the plaudits he is getting.

Gilmour is a modern day all-round midfielder with fantastic technical ability, great passer of the ball, and is happy to receive the ball in tight spaces.

He has given his boss the perfect type of headache in terms of selection going forward, with Lampard being stacked in that area.

He is soon to give Scotland boss Steve Clarke a similar headache in the senior national side as he firmly knocks hard on his door now as well.

And Scotland and Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor loves Gilmour and would welcome him into the squad.

As reported by The Scotsman, McGregor said:

“Billy has been outstanding since coming on the scene. I watched the Chelsea games he played and he looks a really good, technical footballer.

“He likes to pass and receive the ball. He always plays forward and shows really good game intelligence for someone so young.

“It’s great for Scotland to be producing players who can go and play in the Premier League at 18. It can only benefit the squad and the country in the future.

“As a squad, you always welcome good players. Billy is another midfielder to add to the Scotland mix and we do have a lot of strength in that area. The manager has options he can use in different scenarios.”
