Opportunity for Chelsea as three top Lyon players could be up for sale

Chelsea have been heavily linked with signing one of Lyon’s best players for the last year or so, but they might take this opportunity to look at signing one or two more.

As per The Evening Standard, Chelsea have been tracking striker Moussa Dembele for over a year now, and they could well move for him once again this summer as a new forward appears top priority for Frank Lampard.

And as reported by WAGNH, Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Antoine Aulas has admitted it will be very difficult to keep some of his star players this summer without having Champions League football to offer.

Aulas said:

“I’m going to do everything to keep the players, but players programmed to play European competitions may want to look elsewhere because we are deprived of the Champions League. I have no news for now. Memphis tells me that he is ready to discuss [a new contract] when he returns. His agents say that he rather reflects on a leaving opportunity if we don’t play in Europe.”

As you may have noticed, he also specifically talks about former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay.

Chelsea could well look at potentially making a swoop for him rather than Dembele, depending on the price.

And finally, as per GFFN, midfielder Houssem Aouar will be sold by Lyon this summer for around 50 million euros, and he is another player that most top clubs in Europe would have a look at if the opportunity arose to sign him, Chelsea could be one of them.
