Jorginho error has haters raging as Chelsea midfield is overrun

Jorginho has not started for Frank Lampard’s Chelsea since the restart from the coronavirus break, and today was a huge opportunity for him.

Frank Lampard hasn’t trusted him since the spring, but with N’Golo Kante and then Billy Gilmour out injured, he’s turned to the Italy international to run things in the middle of the park.

It hasn’t worked out, and Jorginho has been overrun by a well drilled Blades team. The moment you can see in the clip below sums it up perfectly.

Marcos Alonso, brought on at half time to shake things up, passes him the ball inside, and under no pressure, the former Napoli man panics and takes a heavy touch, losing the ball to a hard pressing pair of Sheffield United players.

That sums up how Chelsea have performed so far, and Jorginho has done little to prove that Lampard wasn’t totally right in favouring Kante and then Gilmour at the base of midfield.

In a game like this, one of those two might have made all the difference as the Blues looked to hit on the break.
