Kai Havertz is on his way to London to be announced as a Chelsea player.
This isn’t his medical, this isn’t talks, this isn’t contract disputes or a misleading existing contractual obligation with a sponsor.
This is the one.
Christian Falk of Bild first reported it, and he’s now followed up with quotes from Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller:
It’s a short flight from Stuttgart to London, and a short cab ride from a private airport into West London.
We could well see Havertz holding a Blue shirt this evening. That would draw to a close a long but ultimately incredibly satisfying transfer saga with positive news for Chelsea, who add one of the most in demand young players in world football to their number.
With just a week to go until the season starts, it will be a race against time to integrate him.
But against all odds, we’d be very surprised if we didn’t at least catch a cameo of the German international next weekend against Brighton.
