Chelsea forced to change starting XI after Christian Pulisic picks up last-minute injury

Christian Pulisic has picked up an injury in the warmup, and won’t feature for the Blues this afternoon despite being in the starting team as originally announced.

It’s bad news for Pulisic, who has only just got back into the team following a hamstring problem picked up in the FA Cup final.

The only positive is that he’s not broken down in the first couple of minutes of the game, forcing us to use a substitute.

Timo Werner, who was originally going to miss this one for a rest, now looks likely to start on the left wing.

That’s not going to be an easy assignment for him at all. He’s looked increasingly tired in recent games, and he’s not going to have any space to run in behind against a low blocking Burnley happy to sit deep.

The whole situation is a real blow for Frank Lampard, and a victory today looks increasingly difficult.
