“Lampard has learned his lesson” – These Chelsea fans react as Mason Mount misses out again

The Chelsea team is out, and Mason Mount is not in the team for a second game in a row.

We weren’t all that surprised to see him miss out against Manchester United at the weekend, but only on the basis he would certainly feature tonight.

Seeing Kai Havertz play in the number ten role again with Mount on the bench is truly unexpected – although of course it just means he’s a cert to start against Burnley this weekend.

Then again, we said that on Saturday. Maybe he really is no longer in Frank Lampard’s standard first XI? That idea was rife on Twitter in the hour leading up to the game.

The Mason haters were out in force celebrating, and those who love Callum Hudson-Odoi were delighted to see him getting a rare start on the wing. “Lampard has learned his lesson,” one of them crowed.
