Mendy himself has been excellent since arriving in the summer, but Chelsea could be left with just one first team goalkeeper this summer if the other two do leave.
But would a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma make any sense with Mendy being there and playing so well? I’m not so sure.
But that is what could happen, according to an exclusive report from 90min, who claim Chelsea are in talks to sign the goalkeeper this summer after it was announced he would be leaving as a free agent.
As I said, it seems unrealistic due to Mendy’s solid form, but I guess if you have a chance to sign a world class goalkeeper on a free transfer, it’s a discussion you must have.
It’s not whether Chelsea need him but we must sign him to stop rivals like United getting him. Simple. If it helps us offload Kepa so much the better. And Donnarumma is young so he can be with us for years just like Petr Cech. It’s dumb to think short term. That’s why Mourinho was oh so proud to offload Lukaku. Look who we are buying back at gazillions more.
