Chelsea believed to be in talks over new contract for academy star

Tino Livramento was the “academy player of the year” at Chelsea, and the defender look set to be rewarded with a new contract.

The full back has emerged as a top talent over the last couple of years, but this season really saw him nail down star status in the development squad, and we’re sure he’s ready for a loan to a senior side somewhere now.

According to Simon Johnson of the Athletic on his Q and A today, the club are in talks to extend the youngster’s deal now he’s ready to break through as a senior star.

It’s only a snippet, and even then Johnson is cautious to say “I believe so” rather than anything more confident than that, but there’s no reason to doubt the club would want to get Livramento locked down – and no reason to think he wouldn’t be keen to sign up at the club where he’s been playing since he was a kid.
