Chelsea star escapes driving ban after 90mph offence

Callum Hudson-Odoi has avoided a driving ban despite admitting he was guilty of doing 90mph in a designated 50mph zone.

The Evening Standard had the full story from the courts, where CHO appeared himself to confirm his identity, before hearing his sentence for the offence last August.

The winger claimed he was late for training when he broke the limit, clocked doing 90mph at 9.47am.

His lawyer explained that there was a road closure that day, and the winger, who was under “considerable pressure from work” and had “personal problems” decided to break the speed limit to avoid being late for training.

He also called his client actions “a foolish and stupid decision.”

The excuses seem to have worked as CHO, who already had points for speeding on his license, escaped with further points and a negligible fine.

As the magistrate put it, it is better to arrive late than not at all – and we hope all our young readers appreciate that it’s never worth risking lives to avoid getting in trouble at work.
