Chelsea were having a pretty quiet transfer window, but that hasn’t stopped iconic transfer insider Fabrizio Romano squeezing some juice out of us almost every morning.
While the pursuit of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul is still the focus, in the background there’s also the matter of keeping together the core of this Champions League winning squad.
This morning Romano Tweeted the names of four players the club are looking to tie down in the near future – Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho – although he also implied there are others.
Chelsea have meetings already scheduled in the next weeks/months to discuss many contract extensions. Antonio Rüdiger, Andreas Christensen, N’Golo Kanté and Jorginho are in the list. 🔵 #CFC

We can certainly see Christensen signing on sooner rather than later. Just a year after it looked like he might be off, he’s secured his place in the team and looks like a great long term option now.
Rudiger is perhaps a little less likely – he can leave on a free in a year’s time, and could earn serious serious cash moving on a free transfer to another Champions League team.
Jorginho and Kante have longer to run, and we imagine there is less pressure on getting them sorted out immediately.
