The former West Ham striker who turned down Chelsea to study now aiming for Championship football

Every football player comes with a story, and not every footballer will have come through the same journey and make the same decisions. We are all different.

Bolton Wanderers striker Dapo Afolayan gave up a dream opportunity to join Chelsea’s academy at age 14 in order to put his studies first.

Afolayan was then spotted by West Ham and even scored for them on his debut in the FA Cup.

But now the 24-year old is aiming for Championship promotion with Bolton and he is doing his best to help fire them there getting 6 goals in 11 matches so far this season in League One.

The BBC have ran a report on him this week as part of Black History Month, and it is certainly a very interesting story how some people will focus on studies, some football, and some both at that young age when they are coming through the ranks.
