Football is largely one of the most meritocratic industries, by its very nature, but there’s no doubt there are still plenty of stereotypes and assumptions that plague the game today.
Black goalkeepers, for example, have long struggled to be judged in the same way as their white peers. That was the topic of discussion on Chelsea’s latest Black History Month feature, where Edu Mendy spoke to Leyton Orient goalie Lawrence Vigouroux.
It’s a really interesting chat – hopefully Mendy’s key role in winning the Champions League can help to start changing perceptions.
