Kai Havertz has regressed to looking lost, despite favourable position change

Chelsea beat Malmo 1-0 in their Champions League tie tonight, and that’s all that mattered.

The Blues walk away with 3 points that put them in a great position to qualify from the group now, but it wasn’t pretty.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s run and great low cross for Hakim Ziyech to tuck away were the only highlights of an otherwise dull and drab game.

It was an early kick off between a minnow and a rotated team playing away – we didn’t expect much else.

One player who once again struggled was Kai Havertz. Playing up top with Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner out, we thought we might see the German back to his best, as we did when he played in a similar position at the end of last season.

Instead he looked a little lost and a little lacking in confidence. This was closer to the Havertz of a year ago than the Havertz of Porto.
