Sport are a Spanish tabloid, but they are a big one, with plenty of sources at Barcelona in particular.
They’ve been leading the charge on the rumours that Cesar Azpilicueta could move to Barcelona on a free transfer when his contract expires.
Now they’re claiming that Andreas Christensen is closer than every to going with him – they even refer to the “Azpi formula” – i.e. signing a player 6 on a pre-contract 6 months before their deal expires, like that’s some kind of black magic.
Christensen apparently “doesn’t intend to renew” at Chelsea, and will be free to go where he chooses this summer.
That’s a bitter blow to Chelsea, who also have Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva out of contract. For a long time we’ve thought that only Rudiger would be walking for free – now it feels more and more like we could lose 25 year old youth product Christensen too, perhaps the most painful blow of all.
