Chelsea get three first team players back for Boxing Day clash

Chelsea have battled through the worst of their injury and Covid issues, and today there was more good news. Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who have missed three games in two weeks with Covid, were back at Cobham today training ahead of the game against Aston Villa on Sunday.

We had heard from Thomas Tuchel in his press conference after the game yesterday that the two Covid positives were now negative, and just needed a follow up test today before training to confirm. The Athletic has the inside scoop that they did indeed return the second negative to allow them to train – and also add that the injured Andreas Christensen had trained too.

That means Chelsea are approaching a full complement of players once again, after a very tough month. January looks set to be even busier, and we will need all hands on deck for the flurry of games to come.
