Chelsea trio back in training as Blues desperately look for fit players to face Liverpool

Chelsea are in deep trouble at the moment, with injuries mounting up, half fit players being pressed into action and other players out with Covid infections.

The good news is that some are on the way back. Pictures have come out of training today showing Thiago Silva back in action following his latest hamstring tweak, with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz also apparently training following their Covid enforced absences.

The bad news is that this isn’t likely to help much with the game against Liverpool on Sunday – Silva could perhaps play if his injury was really nothing, but Timo Werner has been out for too long and been too ill to be thrown into action just yet.

We’d be very tempted to say we’ve turned a corner here – but we’ve said that a few times over the last few weeks, and immediately regretted it. Let’s see where we stand after Sunday’s game.
