Chelsea face Everton at Stamford Bridge in just under an hour, and the teams are in!
We all knew Ben Chilwell was out for this game injured, and that Mateo Kovacic was still unavailable because of coronavirus – but earlier today four other players joined the Croatian on the Covid list, and we only now figure out who.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have all been left out of the squad entirely, meaning they’re almost certainly the positives.
The fact that all four are attackers is a huge blow – this wouldn’t have been nearly as bad with the impact spread through the squad. There is not a single striker, winger or number ten on the bench. Ross Barkley is about as attacking as it gets.
It’s going to be a grind – let’s just get three points.
