Chelsea’s midfield last night was Jorginho and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. It’s been that same pair in almost every game recently, simply because there are no other options.
The workload those two have had to bear in the last month is really taking its toll, as Tuchel revealed today in his press conference.
He explained that Jorginho is a doubt for Sunday’s game after playing through the pain of a back problem last night, but also added that Loftus-Cheek had picked up an ankle issue in the game against Everton.
Tuchel is saying that Jorginho is a doubt (likely the ongoing back problem) and Loftus-Cheek (likely ankle which he had a bad landing on vs Everton). #CFC

The good news, in theory, is that N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic are back. But neither has played in a month or more, and it’s hard to imagine us using a midfield pair with so few minutes in their legs.
So while both should be able to handle some minutes, it looks like RLC and Jorginho are going to have to saddle up one last time to carry the load.
